Underkeep Play Demo

Underkeep Party Composition (2026)

You pick four adventurers and you keep them. The store page says synergy is the strategy. A launch review names one mix it enjoyed. Nothing official describes a front row and a back row.

The one published suggestion

Pro Game Guides, on 4 November 2026, liked Paladin, Blood Mage, Ranger, and Voidcaller, and called the mix fun with room for synergy. That is one writer. I am labeling it as a suggestion with a date, not as the best party.

What creation locks in

Each hero is a race, a class, a name, and a portrait. You cannot hand out skill points or traits on that screen. The review says you also cannot swap someone out at a tavern later. Attributes do not rise on level-up. Equipment and skills do the lifting, and the review adds that gear can grant extra skills you equip mid-fight.

Reach, not rows

An April 2026 note says staves now have a long reach, so a mage with no mana is not stuck watching. That is evidence of weapon reach. It is not evidence of a front-rank / back-rank rule. The interface shot shows four portraits in a square and no row labels. I will not write “the archer stands in the back” as if the game said so.

Three difficulty settings can be changed during play, and they mainly touch combat. If a party is struggling, that switch is the documented relief valve, not a respec.

No source describes rows. The studio did say staves have a longer reach.
