Underkeep Exploration: Automap, Secrets and Puzzles (2026)
The map draws itself. You can place your own marks, and a note layer was added before launch. While that map is open, the party does not walk. This is the 2026 grid crawler, not a World of Warcraft map.
What the automap is allowed to do
The store page and two developer replies agree on the core: the map fills in as you explore, and you can drop custom markers. On 14 October 2026 the studio added notes on the map. A discussion answer is blunt about movement: opening the map stops you moving. I treat that as a rule, because it is a direct reply, not a caption I inferred from a screenshot.
Secrets the store is willing to name
Hidden recesses, false walls, optional bosses, and puzzles are in the store description. The demo shot of a wall niche, with a hand taking an object, is the picture that matches “hidden recess”. It is one room from the demo, not a catalog. Step-by-step solutions for statue or pressure-plate puzzles are not here. The only write-ups I could find were single retellings, and one source is not enough to publish a solution.
Places with names
A May 2026 post names Underkeep Tower, a swamp, dungeon ruins, and forgotten gardens. Portals work across the full game’s maps, per the April 2026 note. Events interrupt exploration with narration and a continue button, sometimes with a choice. The review says some puzzles ask you to carry a clue between maps, and that a few interactions fail to respond even when you did the obvious thing. That complaint is one reviewer’s, dated 4 Nov 2026.
Questions
Can I walk with the map open?
No. The developer answered that movement stops while the map is open.
Does the map take notes?
Markers were already described, and map notes were added in the 14 Oct 2026 pre-release list.
Where are the puzzle solutions?
Not on this page. Room-by-room solutions did not have two independent sources.
